FileWing

FileWing combines the functionality you would expect to get from a data recovery solution with the functionality provided by a data wiper. This means that you can use FileWing to recover accidentally deleted files. And you can also use FileWing to securely delete files, thus ensuring they cannot be recovered.

The FileWing installation file is close to 13MB in size, which is not much; it shouldn’t take long for the download to complete. The same can be said about the actual installation process. Once you have the installation file on your PC, run it; click through the instructions presented by a setup wizard, and you will be done before you know it.

By default, FileWing uses the Blue skin for the interface – a user friendly and very easy to navigate interface, mind you. From the About FileWing menu you can switch to another skin if you don’t like the Blue one. There are many skins to choose from, and they have some pretty interesting names: Money Twins, Glass Oceans, London Loquid Sky , McSkin, The Asphalt World, and more.

Before you can start using FileWing, you need to unlock the software. To do so you need only enter your first name, last name, email address, and then click a button. You will definitely have no problems activating FileWing.

A wizard is presented when you are presented with a Configure Actions prompt that allows you to choose one of two actions: Scan Disks (to uncover deleted files that can be recovered) and Erase files or drives (select the files or folders you want to permanently delete).

If you choose the Scan Disks option, a wizard will help you find deleted files that can be recovered. You will have to choose the drive that will be scanned and choose between a Smart Scan or a Deep Scan.
If you choose the Erase files or drives option, you will get to choose which files or folders you want to be deleted, and you will have to pick a deletion algorithm.

There are a few options that are displayed by FileWing, but are restricted for the FileWing Pro version: filters for when the application scans for deleted files, erase free disk space, format disk or drive.

You don’t have to use two separate applications to recover and securely delete files. FileWing brilliantly does both!
